How to choose the cable and connectors

Choose a kit by cable-run length, acceptable signal loss, required flexibility, and the interfaces on the equipment and antenna.

Cable type comparison

RG-223
The thinnest, lightest, and most flexible option, with double shielding. It has the highest attenuation in this range and is best for compact installation, frequent coiling, and 5–10 m runs.
CG240
A medium-thickness general-purpose option with good flexibility and approximately 30–40% lower loss than RG-223. It suits antenna systems, FPV ground stations, DJI, Alientech, and telecommunications equipment.
RG8
The thickest, heaviest, and least flexible option, with the lowest loss and higher power handling. It is intended for 20–50 m runs where maximum range and every decibel of signal matter.

Connector roles

QMA Quick Lock
A compact quick-release connection without a threaded coupling: the connector locks by pressing it into place. It is used on controllers, RF modules, amplifiers, and test equipment where cables need to be changed quickly.
N-type
A robust threaded connection resistant to vibration and outdoor conditions. It is widely used on external antennas, base stations, repeaters, Wi-Fi/LTE systems, and UAV equipment.
QMA → N-type arrangement
The QMA end connects to a controller, amplifier, or RF module, while the N-type end connects to an external antenna or professional RF equipment.
